Madeleine has always been a naturally talented soccer player but she was the team chatterbox. I think she has surprised everyone this season with the sudden emergence of a powerful leg that can cross the ball across the whole field. She prefers to play defense and is amazingly adept at clearing the ball away from their goal and using her body and footwork to give her an advantage against much larger (and usually male) players. She scored one goal this season on a penalty kick and amazes opponents with her ability to throw in a ball with pinpoint accuracy. Our little Maddie, who at 4 and 5 years old would run up and down the field windmilling her arms and scoring at will, has fine tuned her skills under the guidance of her coach of the past 3 years, Spencer Rose, and has become the defensive leader for her team. They won their game this morning with a score of 12-3 and remain undefeated. Go Rowdies!

Ah yes, I remember the games where all the kids just ran after the ball. Was the funniest when one little girl just stood there picking her nose...wait...maybe that was when I "played" soccer?!?
Tell Mad I said congrats and way to play!! Love you!
Good job Maddie!! I'm sure one day, I'll be out there with my umbrella and wrapped in a blanket. But it will probably be to watch Keaton, not Averie! :) We just can't seem to really get her interested in sports.
Way to go Mad!!! I love to watch you play...especially when you play better than all the boys. :) Love you!!
