Spring for a Day

I am sitting on the deck soaking up rays from the sun, the smell of ribs on the grill wafting through the air, my feet up after spending the day working in the yard. The early daffodils are in full bloom, the hyacinths are trying to open and the leaves of the tulips are sprouting up. Alas, we have a week of storms in the forecast but I am determined to relish this moment in the sun. I am ready for Spring to stay for an extended visit.

Midnight Madness

My sweet Olivia cried huge crocodile tears this afternoon because she wanted to go to the midnight dvd release party for New Moon at the local WalMart. She wore her Twilight t-shirt and bracelets to school today and wanted me to take her to wait in line for hours to buy a movie. After working a 14 hour day, I was not going to WalMart ... I could, however, bribe my teenager to go. I dropped my two girls with two of their friends off at the store entrance, shook my head at the parking lot filled with cars like it was the last shopping day before Christmas and drove home to sleep on the couch until they call me to come pick them up in a couple of hours. They were squealing with excitement because our store is slated for a visit by the actors who play the wolf pack. Apparently a chance to meet hot, young, muscled actors is appealing to teen and tween girls. Who knew?!
